EDINBURGH RUGBY have announced the re-signing of nine young players, which includes the promotion of back-row Tom Currie and scrum-half Conor McAlpine from the academy to the senior squad on two year deals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

20-year-old Currie made his debut playing alongside oldrr brother Matt in January and earned his first start against Zebre Parma the following month. Meanwhile, 21-year-old McAlpine, who joined the pro-academy this season, made his senior debut against Gloucester in the EPCR Challenge Cup.<\/p>\n

Loosehead prop Mikey Jones,<\/strong> 22, a product of Lasswade RFC, has also penned a one-year extension to his senior contract, having made his debut last season and representing Scotland \u2018A\u2019 against Chile in November.<\/p>\n

Hooker Jerry Blyth-Lafferty<\/strong>, back-row Oliver Duncan<\/strong>, scrum-half Hector Patterson<\/strong> and winger Lewis Wells<\/strong> have extended their senior academy deals for another season,<\/p>\n

Full-back Jack Brown<\/strong>, 19, who has impressed since joining the pro-academy ahead of the 2023-24 season, and who earned his first senior start away to Zebre Parma last month, has signed a new two-year deal to remain with the club. Joining him in signing a new two-year extension is lock Euan McVie,<\/strong> 20, who arrived at the club after featuring for Edinburgh Accies and Heriot\u2019s Rugby, impressing in the Edinburgh \u2018A\u2019 pack.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are absolutely delighted to see such a talented group of young Scottish players commit their future to Edinburgh Rugby,\u201d said Edinburgh Rugby Academy Coach Kris Burney.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see the progress they are making, and we firmly believe they have a big future here at the club. It\u2019s particularly rewarding to see guys like Lewis Wells, Jack Brown, Conor McAlpline and Tom Currie, who have come through our pro-academy, already making an impact at senior level this season.<\/p>\n
