Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has reportedly been handed an offer for a sensational free transfer to Premier League rivals Liverpool.<\/p>\n

With his contract to come to an end ten years on from his arrival, De Bruyne confirmed<\/a> that he will not be offered renewed terms by Man City<\/a> last month. With 108 goals and 177 assists in 418 appearances he will depart as one of the club’s greatest-ever players.<\/p>\n

Amid a drop-off from their high standards this term, Man City have conceded the Premier League<\/a> title to Liverpool<\/a> and the 33-year-old is very much part of a cohort of players who could make way for expected arrivals kickstarting big changes under Pep Guardiola<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has suggested that City’s Merseyside rivals could capitalise in the most shocking way.<\/p>\n

In his report, the Italian begins to explain how Napoli have serious interested in bringing De Bruyne<\/a> international to Italy.<\/p>\n

In Naples he would join a club that is in prime position to be crowned Serie A champions for the second time in three years and national teammate Romelu Lukaku.<\/p>\n

However, it is included that ‘the Belgian wants to stay in Europe and also has an offer from Liverpool’.<\/p>\n

Such a prospect would be frightening for City, seeing a modern-day club legend turn out for such a huge rival for silverware.<\/p>\n

In two of the six years De Bruyne has won the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium<\/a>, it is the Reds who have pushed Man City hardest. Those seasons required 98 and 93 points to become champions.<\/p>\n

Next, Guardiola and Co. will be seeking to reclaim the trophy won from them by Arne Slot’s side in 2024\/25.<\/p>\n

De Bruyne himself has refused to rule out staying in the Premier League<\/a> as he quite clearly feels he possesses the quality to continue at the highest level.<\/p>\n

It is a rumour that also brings to memory a clip that often goes viral on social media of an 11-year-old De Bruyne<\/a>, part of Genk’s youth setup in his homeland at the time, revealing his support of the Anfield club and his desire to play for them one day.<\/p>\n

With destination set for when his contract expires on June 30, the midfielder is only allowed to negotiate with foreign clubs at present.<\/p>\n

He has been linked with Saudi Arabia and the United States.<\/p>\n
