Saudi Arabia\u2019s moon sighting committee confirmed Eid ul Fitr would be on Friday, March 20.<\/p>\n

The news came after the crescent was invisible today, leading a wave of other nations to make their announcements.<\/p>\n

UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain all confirmed Friday would be the first day of Eid<\/a> Al Fitr 1447 AH.<\/p>\n

Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq soon followed in the announcements as well, but not all countries had confirmed it yet.<\/p>\n

Muslim organisations across Australia also confirmed Friday as their date of celebration.<\/p>\n

The UK and Morocco, for example, started Ramadan<\/a> on February 19, meaning they will be looking for the crescent moon tomorrow, Thursday, March 19.<\/p>\n

It is currently their 29th day of Ramadan, as they started the fasting a day after Saudi and other Arab peninsula countries.<\/p>\n

Singapore announced it would observe Eid Al-Fitr on Saturday, March 21.<\/p>\n

Astronomical data showed the crescent would not be visible from the island nation on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Eid is marked with communal morning prayers, special meals, and charitable giving.<\/p>\n

Key traditions include wearing new clothes, exchanging “Eid Mubarak” greetings, visiting family and friends, and giving gifts or money (Eidi) to children.<\/p>\n

Eid al-Fitr means “the festival of breaking the fast”, bringing the holy month of Ramadan to a close.<\/p>\n

For Muslims, Eid al-Fitr is a day of joy and celebration following the completion of Ramadan.<\/p>\n
