{"id":836040,"date":"2026-03-19T10:41:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T10:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/836040\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T10:41:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T10:41:18","slug":"more-than-115m-to-improve-local-transport-across-wales-welsh-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/836040\/","title":{"rendered":"More than \u00a3115m to improve local transport across Wales | Welsh Government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than \u00a3115m to improve local transport across Wales<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Funding to deliver modern, sustainable integrated transport systems across Wales was\u00a0announced yesterday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The \u00a3115.9 million of funding has been awarded to local authorities, via the Welsh Government\u2019s Regional Transport Fund (2026 to 2027), to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.wales\/regional-transport-grants-awarded-2026-2027\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">make local transport more accessible for everyone<\/a>\u00a0and help people get around more easily.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The funding will help create more inclusive streets to make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle (\u00a358.5 million); improve the condition of local roads through investment in highway schemes (\u00a324.1 million); create better access to public transport (\u00a320.9 million); improve road safety (\u00a37 million) and make infrastructure enhancements to electric vehicle charging points (\u00a33.9 million).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Projects set to benefit from this investment include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">walking, wheeling and cycling schemes, such as the \u00a31.1 million Penrhyn Bay scheme in Conwy<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a32.4 million to complete the Brecon High Street pedestrianisation scheme to enhance placemaking and safe walking, wheeling and cycling access<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">the opening of the Haverfordwest multi modal interchange in Southwest Wales<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a34 million worth of improvements to the Caerphilly interchange to support better multimodal connections, as well as<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">progressing priorities identified through the Southeast Wales Transport Commission to support a more resilient and sustainable transport system around the M4 corridor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Delivering better transport and connecting communities for all is at the heart of this \u00a3115 million investment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We want to make it easier for people to travel to work, school, healthcare and to see friends and family, while also building a more modern, sustainable and integrated transport system across Wales for future generations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our commitment to a one team approach draws on the regional knowledge and trust we have placed in our partners; the CJCs, local authorities, Transport for Wales, and wider stakeholders, to ensure this money delivers the greatest benefits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These improvements will make real differences to everyday journeys &#8211;
