{"id":836140,"date":"2026-03-19T11:47:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T11:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/836140\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T11:47:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T11:47:19","slug":"adderley-parks-playzone-officially-opened-as-part-of-citywide-investment-in-community-sports-facilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/836140\/","title":{"rendered":"Adderley Park\u2019s PlayZone officially opened as part of citywide investment in community sports facilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/DSC04642.JPG\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Published: <\/strong>Thursday, 19th March 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">A brand-new PlayZone at Adderley Park was officially opened last week by Cabinet Member Cllr Mariam Khan, local Ladywood MP, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood and community partners. <\/p>\n<p>The new outdoor multi\u2011sport space was completed in June 2025 and has been delivered through the Football Foundation\u2019s national PlayZones initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Adderley Park in Alum Rock is one of five PlayZones now created across Birmingham, with additional Playzones at Batchelors Farm Recreation Ground in Bordesley Green, Concord Youth Centre in Sparkbrook, 610 Youth Centre in Kingstanding and Action Indoor Sports in Erdington.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme represents a major investment in community sport and was made possible through \u00a31.2 million in capital funding, with \u00a3858k from the Football Foundation, \u00a3276k from the UK Government\u2019s the Shared Prosperity Fund and alongside \u00a362k from Sport England.<\/p>\n<p>The PlayZones programme is designed to tackle inequalities in access to sport by providing high\u2011quality, community\u2011led spaces where residents can get active and take part in sports such as football and cricket.<\/p>\n<p>Community use and activation of the PlayZones is being funded by Sport England\u2019s Movement Fund and EA Sports, delivered in partnership with Sport Birmingham and the Aston Villa Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>At Adderley Park, Our Community Foundation (OCF) and the Aston Villa Foundation are supporting residents to make the most of the new PlayZone, ensuring it can become a well\u2011used and valued community asset.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cllr Mariam Khan, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: <\/strong>\u201cIt is fantastic to see that the Adderley Park PlayZone in Alum Rock is officially open and ready for the community to enjoy. The PlayZone scheme marks a significant investment in our community sport facilities and highlights the importance of creating high\u2011quality, community\u2011led spaces for residents to get active and for local clubs to use.
