Firefighters had halted the blaze and there were so far no injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Gulf countries condemn Iranian attacks<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">A collection of Gulf Arab countries has released a statement denouncing the Iranian attacks on the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">A statement was released on Thursday morning after a summit in Riyadh between Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The group statement condemned \u201cthese deliberate Iranian attacks using ballistic missiles and drones, which targeted residential areas and civilian infrastructure, including oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, residential buildings and diplomatic missions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">It emphasised that \u201cthese attacks cannot be justified under any pretext or in any way\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi minister: Iran close to losing trust forever<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Saudi Arabia\u2019s foreign minister Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud said the country still preferred the path of diplomacy, but \u201cif Iran doesn\u2019t stop immediately I think there will be almost nothing that can re-establish trust\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Missile interceptors were seen being fired near the hotel in Riyadh where the conference was being held, as diplomats from a dozen countries met to discuss the Iran war including Turkey, the UAE, Jordan, Qatar and Syria.<\/p>\n<p>Senate rejects vote on halting Iran operation<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The US Senate rejected a second attempt to rein in President Trump\u2019s military action in Iran on Wednesday night, voting 48-53 against a war-powers resolution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Senate Democrats forced another vote on legislation that would have halted the president from continuing the war in the Middle East without congressional approval. That\u2019s all I\u2019m interested in,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are going to use every lever we have, political, economic, diplomatic \u2026 to get these attacks to stop\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018No debate\u2019 on US intervention, says former counterterror chief<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The former counterterrorism chief Joe Kent has said that there was \u201cno debate\u201d around commencing the war in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Kent, who resigned on Tuesday, told Tucker Carlson that the planning for the conflict was so \u201ccompartmentalised that there was no debate, as in, it was a foregone conclusion\u201d.
