{"id":83797,"date":"2025-05-08T05:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T05:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/83797\/"},"modified":"2025-05-08T05:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T05:33:10","slug":"they-can-pay-celtic-and-brendan-rodgers-sent-record-breaking-15m-striker-transfer-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/83797\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018They can pay\u2019 &#8211; Celtic and Brendan Rodgers sent record-breaking \u2018\u00a315m striker\u2019 transfer message\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Celtic have got big calls to make in the striker department this summer. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/celtic-told-what-people-expected-to-happen-when-kyogo-left-just-hasnt-happened\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic in January<\/a>, and it opened a door nobody expected to be opened, including for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/brendan-rodgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brendan Rodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The powers that be didn\u2019t replace Kyogo in the winter, mainly because a replacement couldn\u2019t be found, so nobody panicked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/kris-boyd-states-if-rangers-will-give-celtic-a-guard-of-honour-after-securing-55th-premiership-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic have still clinched the title,<\/a> including being on course for the Treble, with Aberdeen standing in their way ahead of the Scottish Cup final. <\/p>\n<p>But will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celtic<\/a> change their minds ahead of the transfer window re-opening? Because of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/feature\/all-celtic-player-of-the-year-award-winners-since-2003\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daizen Maeda\u2019s transformation<\/a>, including the option of Adam Idah.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-2211130187-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Photo by Ian MacNicol\/Getty Images\" class=\"wp-image-270887\" \/>Photo by Ian MacNicol\/Getty ImagesCeltic backed to secure striker for \u2018\u00a315 million\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Everyone knows Celtic have money in the kitty, plenty of it, but given the platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/celtic-officially-overtake-rangers-in-most-won-trophies-list-after-shattering-premier-sports-cup-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland\u2019s most successful club<\/a> plays on, then they can\u2019t pay the wages the top clubs in Europe pay their stars.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/pat-bonner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pat Bonner<\/a> feels that a record-breaking deal could still be on the cards, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/i-just-think-brendan-rodgers-shares-his-thought-on-arne-engels-impact-at-celtic-since-record-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arne Engels being Celtic\u2019s record purchase<\/a> at \u00a311 million.<\/p>\n<p>The legendary goalkeeper has backed the champions of Scotland to pay \u2018\u00a315 million\u2019 for a striker in the summer because he feels the club \u2018could go that high\u2019, as he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sounds\/play\/live\/bbc_radio_scotland_fm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BBC Radio Scotland<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe European campaign probably said to people, \u2018Celtic is a good place to go, a good team to go to, they are in a European competition and I will take my chance with that\u2019,\u201d said Bonner. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if they can pay them the money to bring them here. They have spent \u00a39 million, at the moment, on that player.\u00a0Arne Engels \u00a311 million. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey could go that high at \u00a315 million. Just to get that out-and-out one that\u2019s going to bag goals. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut they have to do it. They have to get somebody in there. They can\u2019t just rely on putting Maeda in there, and Adam Idah, who is young enough and scored against Rangers.\u00a0I don\u2019t know whether Adam needs something alongside him to help him.
