A BAFTA-nominated TV show is set to be adapted for the theatre with creator Russell T David overseeing the production.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a Sin \u2013 that focuses on five friends during the 1980s Aids Crisis \u2013 is now being brought to the stage by dance company Rambert and Factory International.<\/p>\n

The 11-time BAFTA-nominated drama will also be overseen by Executive Producers Pet Shop Boys and Glyn Fussell and is set to premiere its stage adaptation at Aviva Studios in Manchester.<\/p>\n

The production will also be choreographed and directed by Rambert\u2019s Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer, <\/strong>alongside Dramaturg Kaite O\u2019Reilly (The Almond and The Seahorse).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally set in London between 1981 and 1991, Davies\u2019 story follows a generation of young gay men and their friends as the HIV\/AIDS crisis unfolds around them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The moving story will share a wide array of joy, loss, injustice and resilience in the face of unimaginable change.<\/p>\n

Rambert will transform this narrative into an immersive, living experience where contemporary dance, archive and cinematic visuals collide as past and present unfold side by side.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s A Sin\u00a0will be a visceral theatrical experience \u2013 a reckoning and a celebration told through fearless movement. Clubs pulse with possibility. Friendships ignite. Fear edges closer. Lives are changed forever.<\/p>\n

Urgent and intimate, Davies\u2019 (Doctor Who, Queer as Folk) story asks vital questions about memory, community and how we choose to live.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s A Sin <\/strong>continues Rambert\u2019s legacy of bringing stories to the stage through movement that speaks to modern audiences.<\/p>\n

Expanding the world of the beloved television drama, the production brings together an extraordinary creative team. <\/p>\n

Shaping the musical landscape Composer and Music Supervisor\u00a0Roman GianArthur\u00a0(Grammy-nominated albums, Janelle Mon\u00e1e\u2019s\u00a0Dirty Computer and\u00a0The Age of Pleasure) will compose the music.<\/p>\n

She will be supported by Executive Producers\u00a0Pet Shop Boys\u00a0to evoke the glamour, defiance and emotional intensity of 1980s queer life.<\/p>\n

The set and video design comes from\u00a0Luke Halls Studio\u00a0(West Side Story, Pet Shop Boys,\u00a0Dua Lipa, Take That), whose work spans global arena tours and major stage productions.<\/p>\n

Davies said of the adaptation: \u2018It\u2019s A Sin was such a special show for me and it\u2019s one of the greatest honours of my life to have the show transformed by Rambert into something new and exciting.\u2019<\/p>\n

Pet Shop Boys commented: \u2018The original TV drama was a landmark series which compellingly presented the reality and tragedy of the Aids crisis to a mass audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Our song \u201cIt\u2019s a sin\u201d was contemporary with the crisis and we are proud to be involved as this poignant and important story is interpreted in a different medium.\u2019<\/p>\n

Rambert Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer added: \u2018Storytelling sits at the heart of Rambert\u2019s mission.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018This is a story we feel compelled to tell right now, and collaborating with Russell \u2013 one of the most powerful storytellers of our time \u2013 is incredibly exciting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s A Sin is a Rambert and Factory International co-production that will premiere at Aviva Studios in Manchester.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is co-produced with Wales Millennium Centre, Capital Theatres (Edinburgh), Sadler\u2019s Wells Theatre and Les Th\u00e9\u00e2tres de la Ville (Luxembourg).\u00a0<\/p>\n
