It’s been a tough start to the tournament weather-wise, as all matches on Wednesday were cancelled due to the rain. Now, they are running two-and-a-half hours behind schedule on the outer courts.

But as WTA Queen’s tournament director and broadcaster Laura Robson told Sky Sports, there’s no need for Miami Open organisers to worry just yet – especially as this is an extended 12-day Masters 1000 event, where players get days off in between their matches.

“It’s a tough start to the day, but we’re hopeful that that’s it, and blue skies for the rest of the day. We are about two, two-and-a-half hours behind now, which is a shame considering how jam-packed the schedule is,” she said.

“You never really know how long a tennis match is going to take. But if you’re looking at sort of, an hour-and-a-half, two hours per match, I think we’re still feeling plenty calm behind the scenes, because they can play so late here. Obviously we’ve got the 11pm curfew, but they didn’t even need it yesterday.

“I think James Blake, the tournament director, still feeling pretty good, and they have the bonus of having days off in between matches, too. So, worst comes to worst, someone might have to play back-to-back again, but we’re not there yet, we’re not thinking that far ahead!”

Play at the Miami Open is set to resume momentarily, at 12.30pm local time (4.30pm GMT) following a…

[4105
35772,4719,6359,25761,1069,10091,240454,240455,240456,79,1068,31635,47601,5838,49765,16,15,11911
post-840292","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tennis","tag-aryna-sabalenka","tag-atp-tour","tag-carlos-alcaraz","tag-joao-fonseca","tag-katie-boulter","tag-miami-open","tag-miami-open-scores","tag-miami-open-updates","tag-rain-delays","tag-sports","tag-tennis","tag-tennis-section","tag-tennis-live","tag-tennis-news","tag-tennis-updates","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-wta-tour
["GET
