Liverpool <\/a>are once again being linked with a move for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne as the midfielder looks set to join a new club this summer.<\/p>\n

De Bruyne<\/a> announced in April that he would be leaving City at the end of the season when his contract expires. The Belgium international is set to be a free agent, and has already been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia and the United States over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n

Reports from Italy<\/a> emerged on Wednesday claiming that Liverpool have made an “offer” to De Bruyne to join the Reds on a free transfer this summer. Serie A leaders Napoli are also reported to be in the running to sign De Bruyne as a free agent.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen what plans Liverpool have for the summer transfer window and which players Arne Slot<\/a> will want to add to the squad to defend the Premier League<\/a> title.<\/p>\n

It was only last year that Jurgen Klopp<\/a> gave his verdict on De Bruyne during the Reds’ previous title challenge.<\/p>\n

Klopp, who left his role as Liverpool manager last summer, made an admission about De Bruyne after the midfielder was making a return from injury.<\/p>\n

The former Reds boss was speaking after the Reds moved to the top of the Premier League table with a Monday Night Football win over Newcastle United.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s all positive. There\u2019s no doubt about that,” Klopp told Sky Sports on January 1 last year. “But last week – it feels like a few hours ago – Arsenal were running away with it [title race]. If you speak today about it, then you will say, \u2018That\u2019s it for them\u2019.<\/p>\n

“Tottenham were out, now they\u2019re back in. When Kevin De Bruyne is warming up [for Man City], the whole country is starting to shake.
