Pop princess Pixie Lott opens up about new music, starring in new thriller Changing Faces, parenting chaos and keeping the spark alive in her marriage\"Pixie<\/p>\n

Singer Pixie gives us a glimpse of her hectic life and what keeps her going<\/p>\n

Pixie Lott\u2019<\/a>s life already looked hectic, but it got a lot busier when she became a mum-of-two<\/a> last October, delivering a little brother for two-year-old Bertie.<\/p>\n

Life with baby \u201cKio\u201d (the couple haven\u2019t yet released their second son\u2019s name) has been \u201cnon stop\u201d ever since for the pop star, 35, and her husband, model Oliver Cheshire<\/a>, 37, she tells Notebook.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve absolutely loved having a newborn again, and they change so quickly. Like even now, before I spoke to you, he\u2019s been learning how to roll! He\u2019s so cute.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe already had a nickname before he came, so that\u2019s what we call him now, Kio! I see Bertie <\/a>laughing with him now, and bringing him little toys.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a little video of the night before he was born where we\u2019re like, \u2018This is our last night in the world<\/a>, before it changes again and there\u2019s four of us.\u2019 I remember Bertie coming to the hospital and he was so excited, touching him\u2026 but I wonder if he really grasped it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the parenting chaos, the Mama Do singer has already been back performing \u2014 but things are a bit different backstage now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did a show at The London Palladium at Christmas<\/a>, and just before going on stage I was getting my make-up done and feeding the baby simultaneously \u2014 who had reflux and was throwing up everywhere, while Bertie\u2019s running around pulling everything down,\u201d she laughs.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I\u2019m on stage in my lovely dress, singing, dancing \u2014 nobody has any idea of the absolute chaos going on behind the scenes!\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple, who tied the knot in 2022<\/a>, also managed to sneak in a recent date night at London Fashion Week<\/a>. Pixie says they aren\u2019t fazed by the pressures of juggling their busy jobs with two young children.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur schedules are pretty irregular. We can both get jobs at the very last minute, but that\u2019s OK, we both understand that. It keeps things exciting as well \u2013<\/strong> like, anything could happen any given week. We\u2019re good at just going with the flow and not having too much routine.<\/p>\n

The brave pair recently took their kids on a trip to Miami<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, the children become the main priority. Before, you\u2019re like, \u2018I can go out with my mates, we can watch a full movie for two hours\u2019 \u2014 well that\u2019s not going to happen any more!<\/p>\n

\u201cI love that family life, that loyal love and constant of someone always being there has really helped me in the craziness of this business. It makes me feel safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is it true that Pixie wooed Oliver with a Nando<\/a>\u2019s loyalty card and she was two hours late to their first date? She nods, laughing. \u201cI was coming back from a gig and my tour manager dropped me off at Marble Arch, where we were meeting. I was like, \u201cGod, it\u2019s so late\u2026\u201d But Ollie<\/a> was still there, waiting. We ended up having a lovely time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bromley-born star is also putting the final touches to some new music, recorded in Nashville last year (with her mum and Bertie in tow). While they\u2019re not strictly country songs, Pixie says she \u201cdefinitely leaned into the storytelling tradition that country songs are famous for\u201d.<\/p>\n

She adds, \u201cThose tracks are coming out soon, which I\u2019m excited about. I love writing and not waiting a massive long time to put music out into the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

One track she\u2019s teased on socials is called Good Wife. Is that about Pixie, then? \u201cIt\u2019s me trying to be,\u201d she smiles. \u201cIt\u2019s actually about the juggle \u2014 of being a good wife, mother, sister, friend \u2014 trying to do it all.\u201d<\/p>\n

But does she really think women can \u2018do it all\u2019? \u201cI do. But there\u2019s no perfect recipe for what \u201call\u201d looks like. It doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s going to be neat or perfect, scrap that. But why not give it a go?\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as a successful music career, Pixie has dabbled in acting \u2014 and her latest project, a dark, time-twisting thriller called Past Life , is currently in cinemas.<\/p>\n

In it, she plays Claira, the pregnant wife of traumatised war reporter Jason. He ends up being hypnotised, which unlocks the key to a terrifying past and bears witness to shocking unsolved murders.<\/p>\n

Filmed almost a year ago, it was an unusual experience as Pixie was pregnant at the time<\/a> but nobody knew (she only found out around her audition) \u2014 and she had to wear a prosthetic bump.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was\u2026 strange! But I could really draw on the real experience of being pregnant. But yes, I was hugging my bump that wasn\u2019t real, but there was a real baby underneath it!\u201d<\/p>\n

After a smooth pregnancy<\/a> with Bertie, she also presumed her second would be the same, but on set Pixie battled severe nausea and often felt \u201creally ill\u201d. \u201cI really had to try and hold it all together. I did actually tell Nye [her co-star Aneurin Barnard], who plays Jason in the film, but that was it!\u201d<\/p>\n

The shoot was in Manchester, with Pixie\u2019s mum staying there in a hotel with Bertie. \u201cWe\u2019d film at all different times, then I\u2019d come back to the hotel and be mum, till I was called on set again.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for her part in Past Life , Pixie was drawn not only to the \u201cclever\u201d script, but her character being so family-focused. \u201cShe\u2019s so worried about her partner. She\u2019s very loyal, even through all the craziness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Without giving away any spoilers, there are some dark and intense scenes in the film \u2014 but the usually chatty and positive Pixie had her own techniques to wind down after them, such as \u201cgoing off to a quiet space or listening to something that gets me in another zone\u201d.<\/p>\n

She would like to do more acting in future, but what about TV? We\u2019ve seen Pixie on Strictly<\/a>, as a coach on The Voice Kids<\/a> (\u201cOh my God I loved that show so much!\u201d) \u2014 could we see her in the jungle, for instance?<\/p>\n

\u201cMmm, no\u2026 I think I\u2019m more interested in dramas and scripted things. Anything where music and art is at the helm is what I feel most excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Somehow, Pixie also finds time to be an ambassador for the King\u2019s Trus<\/a>t, the charity founded by King Charles<\/a> in 1976 to help vulnerable young people in need get their lives on track.<\/p>\n

She says, \u201cI\u2019ve been an ambassador for 16 or 17 years now, so I\u2019ve personally met a lot of the young people that they\u2019ve helped. They\u2019ve completely turned someone\u2019s life around that\u2019s got off on the wrong foot.\u201d<\/p>\n

And what is our monarch like in the flesh? \u201cOh, whenever I\u2019ve met King Charles,<\/a> he\u2019s always been very charming \u2014 and passionate about the charity,\u201d says Pixie. It\u2019s the charity\u2019s 50th anniversary this year \u2014 will Pixie be involved in the celebrations? \u201cOh, I\u2019m not sure yet\u2026 if they ask me, I\u2019m there!\u201d<\/p>\n
