Hull City will hope for good news on the injury sustained by Regan Slater in the first half of the Tigers’ 3-1 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Slater, who wore the captain’s armband in the absence of Lewie Coyle and Charlie Hughes, hurt his ankle in a challenge on the half-hour mark and had to be replaced by John Lundstram.<\/p>\n

The influential midfielder was on crutches after a 20th win of the season saw Sergej Jakirovic’s side remain inside the top six, three points clear of Wrexham in seventh, with just seven games left when Championship football resumes on Good Friday afternoon next month.<\/p>\n

Slater will undergo an MRI scan in the next 48 hours to determine any damage to the left ankle, but it’s hoped there will be no lasting issue and he’ll be fit to be involved in the busy Easter weekend, which comes in just under two weeks, once the international break is over.<\/p>\n

City<\/a>‘s in-form midfielder has been managing an issue in his left ankle for some time, and became the latest player to be sidelined with injury in a season where Jakirovic has never once been able to name a fully-fit squad.<\/p>\n

Coyle was named on the bench for the Yorkshire derby and was out warming up before the game, having returned to training on Friday, but wasn’t risked and was only there as a precaution.<\/p>\n

The experienced full-back is set to be back available for selection when City travel to Oxford United on Good Friday, when the Tigers hope Matty Jacob, Ryan Giles and Darko Gyabi could be available after lengthy spells out.<\/p>\n
