Bramley will not be eligible for a banking hub \u2013 despite the impending closure of its last banking branch.<\/p>\n

The Halifax branch in Bramley Shopping Centre is set to close on 12 June<\/a>, with owners Lloys popping tin g to a move to banking online and via mobile phone apps. <\/p>\n

Communities including Armley and Horsforth<\/a> have seen banking hubs being created following gh the closure of final banking branches on the high street. <\/p>\n

A banking hub is a shared, high-street space providing essential banking services, usually established in communities where bank branches have closed. Operated by the\u00a0Post Office<\/a>\u00a0and funded by major banks via\u00a0Cash Access UK<\/a>, these hubs allow customers of different banks to withdraw\/deposit cash, pay bills, and speak to community bankers<\/p>\n

Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect access to cash across the UK, has said that Bramley fails to qualify for a banking hub.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Cash Access UK told WLD: \u201cWe carry out\u00a0access\u00a0to\u00a0cash\u00a0assessments when a bank branch closes or if people in the local community ask us\u00a0to, and we publish the outcome of our assessment and any recommendations we make for new\u00a0cash\u00a0access\u00a0services.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur assessment in Bramley focused on\u00a0cash\u00a0access\u00a0needs locally. Alongside a local Post Office, there are a number of free to use ATMs available that provide a convenient option for many people and businesses\u00a0to\u00a0manage their\u00a0cash.\u201d<\/p>\n

A report assessing the need for a banking hub was last carried out in February.<\/p>\n

The assessment concludes: \u201cWe are not recommending the provision of any new or improved cash access services in Bramley at this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is because our assessment shows there are already cash access services and facilities within a one-mile radius which are suitable for the needs of the local area, or the deficiency does not cause a significant impact on the local area.<\/p>\n
