LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56<\/a>) \u2014 The man accused of setting a downtown London building on fire<\/a> in January is set to appear in court on Monday.<\/p>\n

On Jan. 13, the London Police Department posted on Facebook<\/a> that Main Street was completely shut down due to an ongoing commercial structure fire at a law office.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am extremely saddened to see the fire on Main Street this morning @ Cunnagin & Cunnagin, & Benge & Cessna Law Offices. Prayers for my friends whose offices are there. If I\u2019m not mistaken, I believe that was the oldest building in downtown London,\u201d County Clerk Tony Brown said on social media.<\/a><\/p>\n

Mayor Randall Weddle said on social media<\/a> that one man was pulled out from the fire and was taken to the UK Hospital in Lexington. The man, later identified as Scottie Seeley, 56, was accused of starting the fire.<\/p>\n

Weddle later said that Seeley was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was down in the basement portion of it [the building], and then he had made a statement coming out of where they had found him. You know, he said, \u2018It caught so quick he couldn\u2019t get out,\u2019 and that\u2019s why he almost burned up inside there as well,\u201d Weddle said.<\/p>\n

Seeley was charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree arson. He has a pretrial conference set at 9 a.m. on March 23.<\/p>\n
