Forensics remain on scene today amid a murder investigation<\/p>\n

Police remained at the scene on Monday morning (March 23)<\/p>\n

An inner-city Bristol community is in shock after a woman’s death prompted a murder probe.<\/p>\n

A man, aged 32, was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in St Pauls on Friday night.<\/a><\/p>\n

City councillor Abdul Malik, whose Ashley ward covers the area, said the incident was repeatedly raised during his surgery over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Cllr Malik said: “It is a really shocking incident and our hearts and thoughts go to the family. We just hope and pray that people are safe.”<\/p>\n

The councillor said that, while St Pauls has in the past struggled with the “odd spell” of violence, this incident seems different given the domestic location.<\/p>\n

“As councillors, we need to know what goes on in our ward so I am hopeful we will get an update from police soon,” he added.<\/p>\n

A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on conditional bail while investigations continue, Avon and Somerset Police <\/a>said in an update yesterday (Sunday).<\/p>\n

Officers were called to an address at Sussex Place at around 8.40pm on Friday, March 20, by the ambulance service.<\/p>\n

As of Saturday the formal identification process was yet to be completed, but police said at that time they believed the deceased to be a woman in her 30s.<\/p>\n

An investigation has been launched by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) as enquiries continue to be carried out. A forensics van remained at the scene today (Monday).<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Neil Meade, of the MCIT, said on Saturday: \u201cA thorough investigation will be carried out, and our thoughts are with the family of the woman at what will be an incredibly difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpecially trained family liaison officers will continue to support the family. An investigation is now underway as we work to establish the full circumstances of her death, and this will mean there will be a significant police presence in the area over the coming days.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know this news will come as a shock to the community and people will be concerned, but we are not looking for anybody else in connection to this death, at this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnybody with concerns is advised to speak to neighbourhood officers, who will be carrying out extra patrols in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police added: \u201cAnybody with information which could assist with our enquiries are asked to call us on 101 quoting reference number 5226077586 or complete our online appeals form.”<\/p>\n
