Some of Northern Ireland\u2019s famous faces have been sharing their nostalgic travel memories in County Derry<\/a> in a new podcast from Discover Northern Ireland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Postcards from Northern Ireland, well-known personalities have been reminiscing on how our giant spirit, people and place have shaped their happiest travel memories and instilled a passion for local adventure.<\/p>\n

Comedian Diona Doherty, who grew up in Derry, reflected on her first trips out of her hometown, exploring the beauty of the Causeway Coast.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI was on the train out of Derry two or three times as a child. It was like getting the Polar Express. That train along the north coast\u2026 it\u2019s stunning. I remember looking and thinking is this where we live? It\u2019s such a magical train journey. You pass Mussenden Temple and it\u2019s so gorgeous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singer Rachel Tucker, who played Elphaba in Wicked on the West End and Broadway, has fond memories of holidays on the Causeway Coast.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would put our duvets and pillows in the back of the car and argue over who was sitting at the windows! Driving in and seeing the flat line where the sea meets the sky, that was the summer started for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Star of The Great British Bake Off, Iain Ross, grew up on the Causeway Coast and reminisced about days out with his family.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe have walked most of Coleraine to Limavady in some form. We had dogs and we were always up for walking the dogs anywhere that we could. There\u2019s a nice picnic site with a stream going through it. It always felt really tranquil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Derry Halloween has become a standout attraction for more than 100,000 people every year and Diona admitted she has grown to value the spectacle more with adulthood.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cAs a professional working there, I was so proud of what this city has created for Halloween. There are hundreds of thousands of people who come from all over the world to this wee place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t realise that as a child, when I was hanging around the Derry Walls dressed as ET! If you go to Derry over that week to celebrate Halloween, you will not get bored.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, internationally-renowned artist Colin Davidson revealed that walking the Derry Walls remains on his bucket list.<\/p>\n
