A teenager stabbed in the arm during an incident close to a Shell garage was later arrested. Merseyside Police<\/a> has launched an appeal for information following the stabbing opposite the garage on Liverpool Road, Huyton<\/a>, at around 8.05pm yesterday, Wednesday, May 7.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the force said officers received a call regarding an incident involving a group of youths on electric bikes. During the altercation, a 16-year-old boy from Huyton<\/a> sustained a stab wound to his arm, which required stitches at hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, Merseyside Police <\/a>said the teen, who was found at a nearby house, was taken into custody following initial enquiries. He was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis<\/a>. He was taken to a police station for questioning where he remains.<\/p>\n Merseyside Police<\/a> detective inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “We believe that there was an altercation involving a group of males on electric bikes, although nobody else has come forward as being injured.<\/p>\n “The consequences of this incident could have been catastrophic and shows once again that carrying knives and other weapons can put you at greater risk of being injured.<\/p>\n “I’d implore anyone with information to speak to us, so we can prevent further harm coming to young people in our communities.<\/p>\n “Liverpool Road is a busy thoroughfare and there will have been people passing by who may have seen or captured what happened, or people making off.<\/p>\n “Please check any devices, as the information you hold could be vital to our investigation. We are determined to find all of those involved and put them before the courts.”There will be a significant police presence in the area today as we carry out this vital work, and we are speaking to local businesses and residents to gather information.
