Three people have been injured after a building collapsed in Oldham<\/a> town centre. Police, paramedics and firefighters are all working at the scene on King Street this afternoon<\/a> (March 24), where people have been urged to avoid the area.<\/p>\n

Crowds of people have been seen watching on from beyond the cordon, which stretches from Union Street to Manchester Street. Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says three people were injured after a building partially collapsed.<\/p>\n

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Five people in total were able to escape the building before firefighters arrived, according to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).<\/p>\n

A GMP spokesperson said: “We are currently responding to a partial building collapse on King Street, Oldham<\/a>. Officers are on scene with other emergency services working together to ensure the safety of the public.<\/p>\n

“Three people have injuries that are not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing. A number of road closures are in place and we would ask people avoid the area where possible. Thanks for your patience.”<\/p>\n

A GMFRS spokesperson added: “At around 12.40pm this afternoon (Tuesday, March 24), three fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to an incident involving a collapsed building on King Street, Oldham. Firefighters are working alongside GMP and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe.<\/p>\n

“Five people self-evacuated from the building before fire service arrival.
