The production didn’t rely solely on the Hall’s grandeur either: its dark, looming underbelly became the perfect setting for the Shelby family’s (almost) execution at the start of Season 4, while its maze of corridors and side rooms doubled convincingly as the Houses of Parliament during Tommy’s time as an MP.

Eagle eye viewers will be able to see the outside of the hall in The Immortal Man, with the imposing Corinthian columns at the front and usually peaceful St John’s Gardens at the back of the building ladened with sand bags, fake smoke and rain machines as the exterior stood in in for a Blitzed-out Birmingham.

But beyond its starring roles on screen, St George’s Hall is a world‑renowned neoclassical landmark and Grade I listed treasure. Reopened in 2007 by King Charles III after extensive restoration, it’s now one of Liverpool’s premier venues for weddings, events, performances, and major civic moments. Opposite Lime Street Station and anchoring the William Brown Conservation Area, the Hall has been a focal point of Liverpool life since opening in 1854, hosting everything from royal visits to public protests, earning its place as the emotional heart of the city.

For the team behind St George’s Hall, Peaky Blinders left an indelible park on the building:

“I had worked in St George’s Hall for a long time before I realised just how significant it is to Peaky Blinders fans.

It happened during a guided tour I was leading in the Great Hall. Out of nowhere a visitor asked, ‘Did you meet him?’ I was baffled, until she leaned in and whispered, with absolute reverence, ‘Cillian.’ I told her I hadn’t crossed paths with Tommy Shelby himself, but that didn’t dampen her excitement. She became utterly transfixed by the surroundings, pointing out where the Shelby Charity Foundation dinner was filmed and recounting every dramatic moment of that particular scene.”

“Over the years, the production has returned to the building many times inside and out. Fans are often stunned to learn just how much of interwar Birmingham was actually recreated right here in the heart of Liverpool. It’s a testament to the extraordinary level of detail the design teams achieve.”

One moment in particular still stands out: “I still recall the eerie sensation of walking past the massive banners and period props staged for Mosley’s rally. Seeing Sam Claflin’s character represented in such a realistic way was genuinely unsettling, the level of craftsmanship made the fascist iconography look far too authentic for comfort.”

A view taking in the sights of St. George’s Hall, the Prince Albert Statue, the Queen Victoria Statue, Liverpool Cenotaph, County Sessions House and Wellington’s Column.

Our region’s magnificent example of neoclassical architecture is a must‑see for any Peaky Blinders fan.
