The synopsis for \u201cThe Six Billion Dollar Man\u201d reads: \u201cJulian Assange faced a possible 175 years in prison for exposing U.S. war crimes until events took a turn in this landmark case.\u201d Jareki previously won Sundance\u2019s Grand Jury Prize twice, in 2005 for \u201cWhy We Fight\u201d and again in 2012 for \u201cThe House I Live In.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cResurrection\u201d is a sci-fi detective movie which marks <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/bi-gan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bi Gan<\/a>\u2018s comeback to filmmaking and his return to Cannes after his 2018 film \u201cLong Day\u2019s Journey Into Night.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe film stars Chinese-language actors Jackson Yee (\u201cBetter Days\u201d) and Shu Qi (\u201cThe Assassin\u201d). The film is set \u201cin a world where humanity has lost the ability to dream,\u201d according to its synopsis. \u201cOne creature remains entranced by the fading illusions of the dreamworld. This monster, adrift in reverie, clings to visions no one else can see \u2014 until a woman appears. Gifted with the rare power to perceive these illusions for what they truly are, she chooses to enter the monster\u2019s dreams, determined to uncover the truth that lies hidden within.\u201d Shan Zuolong, Yang Lele and Charles Gillibert produced the film, while Gan and Wan Juan are co-producing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/cover-resurrection-va-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"cover-resurrection-va-2.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c13 Jours, 13 Nuits,\u201d meanwhile, is a thriller set in the backdrop of the fall of Kabul and the takeover by the Taliban. It\u2019s adapted from \u201c13 days, 13 Nights, in the Hell of Kabul,\u201d a sprawling real-life account of the events written by commander Mohamed Bida who oversaw the exfiltration of the French Embassy and the local population fleeing the new extremist regime. The film is produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/chapter-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chapter 2<\/a>, a Mediawan company,\u00a0and co-produced by Pathe which handles global distribution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cMa Frere,\u201d meanwhile, marks Akoka and Gueret\u2019s follow up to \u201cThe Worst Ones\u201d which won Cannes\u2019 Un Certain Regard Prize in 2022 and earned a Cesar nomination for best first film. The film revolves around two 19-year old best friends from a working class neighborhood in Paris who set off to lead a summer camp with young children. The movie stars young actors, including Shirel Nataf and Fanta Kebe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs previously announced, Juliette Binoche will preside over the jury, while Robert De Niro will receive this year\u2019s honorary Palme d\u2019Or.
