{"id":849205,"date":"2026-03-25T11:35:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T11:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/849205\/"},"modified":"2026-03-25T11:35:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T11:35:13","slug":"ghosts-s2-confirmed-for-germany-as-bbc-highlights-success-of-format","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/849205\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghosts S2 Confirmed for Germany, as BBC Highlights Success of Format"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGermany is set to get a second season of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/ghosts\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ghosts\" data-tag=\"ghosts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ghosts<\/a>,\u201d the hit <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/bbc-studios\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bbc-studios\" data-tag=\"bbc-studios\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BBC Studios<\/a> sitcom format \u2014\u00a0originated in the U.K. \u2014\u00a0in which a group of ghosts from across history haunt a country house. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe news was announced at a BBC Studios panel at <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/series-mania\/\" id=\"auto-tag_series-mania\" data-tag=\"series-mania\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Series Mania<\/a>, where Eva Holtmann, head of fiction for the BBC\u2019s commercial arm in Germany confirmed the show would be returning. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re so happy that we\u2019re going to produce a second season, so \u2018Ghosts\u2019 will be coming back to Germany,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was the perfect ensemble, and we are producing that in the summer, again for our commissioner, ARD and WDR.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDevised by the team behind hit kids TV show \u201cHorrible Histories,\u201d \u201cGhosts\u201d \u2014\u00a0which first aired on the BBC in 2019 \u2014\u00a0was referenced several times in the panel to underline the collaborative efforts within BBC Studios when it comes to helping a successful format travel. It\u2019s understandable why it was chosen. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tShortly after it launched in the U.K., the series was commissioned for CBS, where it proved to be a huge hit and has now run for five seasons (with a sixth and seventh already green lit). Within Europe, alongside Germany, there are now several variants of the show, including a French adaptation for Disney+ which launched in 2025 and a Greek version which launched the same year on Disney\u2019s Star channel. Earlier this year, a Czech adaptation was announced for local broadcaster TV Nova.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhen we collaborate, it can happen at various stages of the project,\u201d said Lea Gimonneau-Sorrel, series producer for BBC Studios France. \u201cFor \u2018Ghosts,\u2019 we had the show commissioned before [Germany] so were able to share advice about the pitch deck, for example. And [Germany] was in preparation before we were, so you shared precious advice on, for example, not having too many ghosts in the same room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSuch collaboration may now extend beyond the small screen.
