If you\u2019re wandering around London later this month and you see a vision of a historic<\/a> ship in the Thames, fret not, you\u2019re not dreaming. That\u2019s because one of history\u2019s most famous ships will soon be sailing into the city to drop anchor. An impressive replica of the Christopher Columbus ship, the Nao Santa Maria<\/strong>, will arrive in London this May<\/a> and welcome visitors aboard.<\/p>\n

As long as the weather plays along (because London\u2019s weather is famously temperamental <\/a>), the ship will dock on May 28 at St Katherine Docks<\/strong>. It will then open its gangways to curious visitors from May 29.<\/p>\n

The Nao Santa Maria will be anchored in London from May 29 \u2013 June 8,<\/strong> which is perfect timing for the May half-term holidays! And fortunately for history- and boat-fans alike, this isn\u2019t just an impressive marvel to gaze upon. The ship acts as a floating museum<\/a><\/strong>, which \u201coffers Londoners a rare chance to step aboard history, providing a fascinating glimpse into 15th-century maritime life and the voyage that changed world history\u201d.<\/p>\n

The replica of the Christopher Columbus ship isn\u2019t the first impressive replica to sail into London. Back in September of 2024, the Gale\u00f3n Andaluc\u00eda, a replica 17th-century Spanish warship, made its way along the Thames<\/a> and stopped off in the capital.<\/p>\n

Both the Gale\u00f3n Andaluc\u00eda and the Nao Santa Maria are operated by the Nao Victoria Foundation.<\/strong> The non-profit entity promotes history by constructing historical ships and sailing them throughout the world\u2019s ports. The awe-inspiring ships have been all around Europe and the United States. They\u2019ve visited almost 100 ports and welcomed millions of visitors.<\/strong> Along the way, they\u2019ve \u201csailed across the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Southern China Sea, the Aegean Sea, the Bosporus Strait and the Caribbean Sea.\u201d<\/p>\n
