{"id":84946,"date":"2025-05-08T15:32:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T15:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/84946\/"},"modified":"2025-05-08T15:32:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T15:32:15","slug":"ukraines-parliament-ratifies-landmark-minerals-deal-with-us-russia-ukraine-war-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/84946\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine\u2019s parliament ratifies landmark minerals deal with US | Russia-Ukraine war News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">Kyiv says deal \u2018operational\u2019 in a few weeks, hopes it will revive flagging US support against Russian aggression.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian legislators have unanimously voted to ratify a minerals deal with the United States in the hope of securing military assistance to deter future Russian aggression.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s parliament gave its assent to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/5\/1\/what-is-in-the-us-ukraine-minerals-deal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agreement<\/a>, which grants the US priority access to Ukrainian minerals and sets up an investment fund for Ukraine\u2019s reconstruction, with 338 members voting in favour and none against it.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s First Vice Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said on Thursday that the deal, which stops short of offering security guarantees but has raised hopes of revived US support, was \u201cthe foundation of a new model of interaction with a key strategic partner\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Ukrainian Parliament has ratified the historic Economic Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>This document is not merely a legal construct \u2014 it is the foundation of a new model of interaction with a key strategic partner. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pIkMG1gUVu\">pic.twitter.com\/pIkMG1gUVu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Yulia Svyrydenko (@Svyrydenko_Y) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Svyrydenko_Y\/status\/1920438104281711056?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May 8, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The deal, signed by the US and Ukraine at the end of April, was approved despite legislators\u2019 concerns over a lack of detail regarding issues such as how the reconstruction fund will be governed and how contributions will be made.<\/p>\n<p>In a news conference earlier that day, Svyrydenko had sought to assuage these concerns, indicating the deal would be operational in a few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have managed to ensure that the agreement is equitable. The key principle is that management is 50-50.
