When the photo was taken, two NASA astronauts \u2014 Jessica Meir and Chris Williams \u2014 were venturing outside the space station\u2019s Quest airlock to prepare for a new solar array. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/international-space-station\/astronauts-complete-prep-for-new-iss-solar-array-on-1st-nasa-spacewalk-in-10-months\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">Space.com notes<\/a> that it was the first U.S. spacewalk in nearly a year. <\/p>\n<p>The photo was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/heospace\/status\/2036202578959020250\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">shared by HEO Space<\/a> on March 23 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/spaceporn\/comments\/1s2trls\/iss_imaged_by_another_satellite_inorbit\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">shared to r\/spaceporn<\/a> yesterday. The version shared to Reddit is a colorized image that appears to have been made by amateur astronomer <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VikranthJonna\/status\/2036233252927840393\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">Vikranth<\/a>. The original is black and white. <\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/HEO-Space-ISS2.jpeg\" alt=\"A small airplane flies above a blanket of clouds, framed by three vertical dark window bars. The reason for the three panels in the image is that the satellite used to take the photo has a relatively narrow field of view. So when it wants to take a photo of an object that is closer than Earth, it will use a panning maneuver, rotating its body as it takes a photo to do a \u201csweep\u201d. At the same time, space-to-space threats are rising and the need to inspect and maintain satellites is accelerating faster than anyone expected,\u201d HEO Space <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/heospace\/status\/1981481904638742562\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">wrote alongside the post<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cResolution alone won\u2019t deliver what\u2019s needed.
