Almost as iconic as Pixar\u2019s cast of animated movie characters is Luxo Jr., the little lamp<\/a> that starred in Pixar\u2019s first animated short<\/a>, and now shines a light to open every one of their films. And now, it\u2019s getting a very cute tribute in the form of its own Lego set\u2013complete with a brick-built replica of the famous red, blue, and yellow Pixar ball.<\/p>\n

This morning Lego revealed its latest Disney building set for adult collectors in the form of Luxo Jr., a 613-piece replica of the lamp from the titular short as well as the tiny ball it plays with. As well as Luxo Jr. itself, which can be posed and moved, well,\u00a0like a lamp, the included Pixar ball itself can be opened up to reveal easter eggs celebrating Pixar\u2019s legacy in animation<\/a>, from\u00a0Toy Story to\u00a0Up,\u00a0The Incredibles,\u00a0Finding Nemo, and even more of the studio\u2019s films.<\/p>\n

Of course, as well as being displayable separately, by removing two of the rounded plates from the ball, the set can also be displayed to depict Luxo Jr. playfully squishing the ball as it bounces atop it as seen in both the original 1986 short, and ever since in Pixar\u2019s opening studio title animation.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a very cute little set, one that could easily look like a bit of office decor (after all, it is basically just a desk lamp!) until you see the multicolored little ball beside it. It may not be as exciting a Lego set as something more directly based on many of Pixar\u2019s films, but it\u2019s a neat little way to show off your love of the studio in a bit more of a subtle way.<\/p>\n
