The report praised the ‘high standard of design that respects local character’.

Alastair Curran, of developer Newett Homes, said the scheme would provide much-needed family homes.

He said: “The proposal is policy-compliant. In fact the proposal is supported by consultees and would secure several public benefits.”

He argued that the development would be policy complaint, less than 4% of it was on green belt land and that it was surrounded by properties on three sides.

The panel’s decision means final approval is delegated to the council’s chief planning officer, subject to conditions.

Additional reporting: John Baron

Sponsored content

www.sunnybankmills.co.uk

By Don Mort, local democracy reporter Plans for a new housing development can go ahead – despite dozens…

[8814
238727,169661,748,214244,393,4884,1860,101522,16,15
0":"post-852022","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-alder-drive","9":"tag-andrew-carter","10":"tag-britain","11":"tag-don-mort","12":"tag-england","13":"tag-great-britain","14":"tag-leeds","15":"tag-pudsey","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
