A new nationwide initiative launching this week in South Leeds aims to tackle crime by bringing neighbourhoods together over free coffee to bridge community spirit with smart home security.<\/p>\n
The \u2018NeighbourGood Caf\u00e9 Tour\u2019, a collaboration between Ring and the independent charity Crimestoppers, will travel across the UK throughout 2026 to transform local caf\u00e9s into hubs that encourage conversations about neighbourhood safety.<\/p>\n
The event launches as new Ring research of 2,000 people across the UK reveals three quarters of Yorkshire residents
(75%) believe a street where neighbours know each other and communicate regularly feels safer than one where neighbours keep to themselves. A further 35% of Yorkshire residents claim the combination of both knowing and trusting their neighbours and having security cameras was the most effective way to prevent crime in their community.<\/p>\n
The caf\u00e9 will open its doors on Friday (27 March 2026) at 10am\u20135pm in North Star Coffee Shop on the Boulevard at Leeds Dock in Hunslet. Residents across Yorkshire are invited to visit and enjoy complimentary refreshments while meeting neighbours, representatives from Ring and Crimestoppers, and David Collins \u2013 Ring\u2019s first \u2018Community Champion\u2019. The event will offer Yorkshire residents advice on how they can protect their homes and communities together.<\/p>\n
After retiring and moving to a new property in Huddersfield, David Collins and his family had no security devices. He spotted a deal for Ring devices, and bought four. Late one night, David\u2019s cameras picked up three intruders coming through the hedge from a neighbouring property. The footage was so clear that one intruder pointed directly at the camera, enabling police to identify him. All three were caught and successfully prosecuted within six weeks.<\/p>\n
This experience prompted David to organise a Neighbourhood Watch group. Membership has grown considerably, with many also turning to Ring to assist. David is hoping to share his experience of neighbourhood security and meet fellow community members at the NeighbourGood Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf it hadn\u2019t been for the Ring cameras picking up the intruders, I would never have set up the Neighbourhood Watch group. Everyone in the group started getting cameras, and it\u2019s grown from there. We now have over 250 members, which is incredible.\u201d David said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
At each free event, neighbours can pick up their free hot drink before they have the opportunity to meet and nominate local Ring Community Champions, share their own experiences, discover how smart home technology complements traditional community safety and learn from Crimestoppers about the value of anonymously passing on what they know, have seen or have heard\u00a0 about crime.<\/p>\n
Alongside this, Ring\u2019s research shows that\u00a0 almost three quarters (73%) of Yorkshire residents said they would likely share suspicious activity captured on a home security camera with their neighbours, while 71% said they\u2019re confident their neighbours would tell them if something unusual happened at their property while they were away.<\/p>\n

Our charity is proud to collaborate with Ring to help communities in Leeds and across the UK to connect, share knowledge, and take practical steps to keep their neighbourhoods safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The tour recognises that while smart technology plays an important role, the most effective neighbourhood safety comes from combining technology with strong community relationships.<\/p>\n

The NeighbourGood Caf\u00e9 Tour launches in Leeds on Friday 27 March, 10am-5pm, and will visit communities across the UK throughout 2026, including Greater Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Cardiff. The NeighbourGood Caf\u00e9 Tour will also support a community charity in each location by donating \u00a31,000 of Ring devices to a local good cause.<\/p>\n
