The United States of America and the Republic of Tunisia Celebrate the Commissioning of Innovative\u00a0U.S.\u00a0Technological Solutions within the Electricity Distribution Network in\u00a0Moknine<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Governor of Sousse, Mr.\u00a0Sofiene\u00a0Tanfouri, His Excellency Mr. Bill Bazzi, Ambassador of the United States of America to Tunisia, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas,\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Faycel\u00a0Tarifa,\u00a0chaired the ceremony of\u00a0the official\u00a0commissioning\u00a0of\u00a0U.S. tech\u00a0solutions\u00a0valued at 5\u00a0million\u00a0dinars, part of a\u00a015-million\u00a0dinar,\u00a0U.S. government-funded Smart Grid pilot project\u00a0which\u00a0expands trade and\u00a0opens\u00a0economic\u00a0opportunities\u00a0for both the United States and Tunisia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This initiative highlights the strength and depth of the strategic\u00a0collaboration between Tunisia and the United States of America. It also underscores the key role of U.S. tech innovation in enhancing the resilience of critical infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Implemented over the period 2020\u20132026, the project included studies,\u00a0skills transfer,\u00a0and professional development initiatives, and the deployment of\u00a0state-of-the-art-U.S. technology\u00a0solutions,\u00a0such as Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR), which\u00a0ensure\u00a0rapid and\u00a0optimal\u00a0service restoration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This system has been deployed within the electricity distribution network in the\u00a0Moknine\u00a0region, as part of a technological partnership between STEG and its American partners, E3-International,\u00a0Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), and\u00a0G&W Electric. It is supported by a\u00a0pLTE\u00a0communication infrastructure provided by Nokia, ensuring real-time monitoring and optimized network operations management.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ambassador Bazzi said, \u201cThis milestone reflects the impact of American technology as we partner with Tunisia to modernize critical infrastructure, foster mutual economic growth, and create new business opportunities for U.S. companies in Tunisian markets.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr.\u00a0Faycel\u00a0Tarifa\u00a0noted that\u00a0\u201cThis project is fully aligned with STEG\u2019s strategic vision to modernize the national electricity network and support Tunisia\u2019s energy transition through the deployment of Smart Grid technologies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On this occasion, STEG reaffirms its commitment to continuing its efforts to modernize the national electricity network and to promote the integration of advanced technological solutions, with a view to improving service quality, optimizing operational performance, and supporting Tunisia\u2019s energy efficiency.\u00a0<\/p>\n
