Plenty of comings and goings are expected.

Inevitably, fans are talking about who will arrive at Leeds United this summer. It’s bound to be an exciting summer too with Leeds United set to spend £100million or more on new signings, with some exciting new names being linked too.

But for Daniel Farke, there needs to be balance. Balance in terms of who comes and who goes and balance in terms of the wage bill, too.

Leeds will undoubtedly have to get rid of some deadwood this summer and there’ll be clubs queueing to take them on board. Names like Patrick Bamford looks set to leave Leeds United, along with Sam Greenwood who’s up for sale.

Another name up for sale is Joe Gelhardt. The striker joined Hull City on loan in January and went on to score five goals in 20 Championship outings.

Photo by George Wood/Getty ImagesHull City boss Ruben Selles keen to sign Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United

Soon after leaving Elland Road on loan, Gelhardt spoke about his time at Hull City, sharing his happiness at playing regular football after a difficult first half of the campaign at Leeds United. And now, his manager at the MKM Stadium has made it clear that he’d like to bring the 23-year-old Gelhardt back in time for the 2025/26 season.

Tigers boss Ruben Selles told Hull Live: “I’m not going to go too much on it because everything can happen. I just think that it has been a pleasure for us to have Joe. His way to work has been exceptional.

“His qualities and abilities are exactly what you expect from a player, but also from a person in our environment. I will be happy if he can stay with us for another season, but there are a lot of things that need to be discussed, not only my intention.”

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Joe Gelhardt has already hinted at leaving Leeds United this summer

Not only does Selles want to sign Gelhardt, but Gelhardt has hinted at leaving Leeds United already this month.

Speaking recently, Gelhardt said: “I wasn’t playing at Leeds, and now I’ve got a taste of football. I don’t want to be sitting on a bench and not playing my football. I’ve enjoyed it so much here, so I’d like to play football again next year. I don’t know where that’s going to be, but I definitely want to be playing football.”

For all involved, Gelhardt returning to Hull City this summer could be a great outcome. But Selles could be sacked by Hull City and so that casts doubt over a potential return to Hull, although Gelhardt has had interest from elsewhere in the Championship in the past.

A good striker with potential still, Gelhardt will surely go on to have a bright career. But it looks like he’s played his last game for Leeds United.

Leeds United’s squad looks set to undergo a bit of a makeover this summer.
