DESTINED for Home, a popular gift shop on Constitution Street<\/a> in Leith is to close\u00a0this weekend and\u00a0the owner, Karen, says they will relocate\u00a0to Gullane<\/a> in East Lothian<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Owner\u00a0took to social media to announce the move, clarifying that the shop\u2019s landlord is\u00a0selling the building and converting them into flats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She says she \u201ctotally agrees\u201d with the decision and that Leith is \u201ccrying out\u201d for more flats and expressed excitement\u00a0at the move.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 29th\u00a0of March will be the shop\u2019s final day in Leith\u00a0and Karen has urged patrons to stop by one last time and pick up some of their favourite items while they can.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Destined for\u00a0Home shops a range of cards, gifts, clothes, homeware,\u00a0trinkets,\u00a0and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a video posted to social media, Karen said: \u201cmy lovely landlord has decided to sell the four units, two of which I have, and they\u2019re going to be converted into residential use flats, which I totally agree with, because Leith does need flats residential.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s crying out for places to stay.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She\u00a0clarified that the shop is\u00a0relocating\u00a0rather than\u00a0closing\u00a0and that they understand the landlord\u2019s decision to sell.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s just too many short term lets\u00a0at the moment, and people struggle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSo\u00a0my news is that Harley and I will be\u00a0relocating\u00a0\u2013\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0not\u00a0closing down,\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0relocating.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had this sliding door moment, and the time is right.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not going to reach my 10th anniversary here in Leith, unfortunately, because our last day for you to shop in Destined for Home is the 29th of March.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Destined for Home has been in business on Constitution Street for almost ten years now, and many locals expressed their dismay at the news on social media after the announcement from the store.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The shop confirmed that they will move to Gullane, East Lothian\u00a0in April but have not responded to our enquiries for any further comment.<\/p>\n
