Two hundred people slept rough in Scotland\u2019s biggest city<\/a> in just a month as overall homelessness stats hit new record levels.<\/p>\n Glasgow City Council figures seen by the Sunday Mail found a record 9337 homeless<\/a> people living in temporary digs as of last month.<\/p>\n That included a shocking 3367 children, another all-time high for the city which is buckling under a housing<\/a> and homelessness emergency.<\/p>\n Between January 1 and February 12, a total of 203 people were reported sleeping on the streets.<\/a><\/p>\n Maeve McGoldrick of Crisis Scotland said the rough sleeping<\/a> figures were \u201chuge\u201d. She said: \u201cIt\u2019s absolutely an indictment of where we are just now.<\/p>\n Maeve McGoldrick head of policy at Crisis Scotland(Image: HANDOUT)<\/p>\n \u201cScotland varies quite a lot when it comes to rough sleeping but it\u2019s really prevalent at the moment in Glasgow<\/a> and Edinburgh and to a degree, in places in Aberdeen.<\/p>\n \u201cGlasgow is really imploding on itself when it comes to homelessness services.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of the particular rise in rough sleeping is related to Home Office<\/a> decisions because Glasgow is a dispersal location for asylum seekers.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to see the Home Office<\/a> have much better housing, employment and integration support for people that have received a positive decision on their asylum claim.<\/p>\n \u201cBut instead what you see is the Home Office saying our job is done, you\u2019re now out on the streets and it\u2019s the council\u2019s job to support you from there.
