{"id":85788,"date":"2025-05-08T22:51:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T22:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/85788\/"},"modified":"2025-05-08T22:51:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T22:51:10","slug":"man-admits-killing-mother-and-daughter-in-collision-in-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/85788\/","title":{"rendered":"Man admits killing mother and daughter in collision in Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mohammed Ibrahim appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday for a plea hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old from Sheldon pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Riley, 49, and Linda Philips, 72, both died on December 26, 2023, following a collision on Meadway at the junction with Kitt\u2019s Green Road, in Shard End in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/970e8923-e4ae-4103-9092-9cb8c29ee1be.jpg\"   alt=\"Amanda Riley and Linda Philips both died following the collision. Photo: West Midlands Police<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim fled the scene and later presented himself to hospital, where he was arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators found that the 25-year-old was driving his BMW 420D between 80 and 84mph in a road with a speed limit of 30mph.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on July 16.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the West Midlands Police serious collision investigation unit, said: \u201cAmanda and Linda tragically lost their lives, and others were injured due to the selfishness and dangerous driving of Ibrahim.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/7295bed6-35e0-4b65-bd01-ce19718edf8c.jpg\"   alt=\"Mohammed Ibrahim has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. Photo: West Midlands Police<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe made no attempt to help anyone and ran off, rather than face up to what he&#8217;d done, but we managed to quickly identify and arrest him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis incident has devastated a family who we have continued to support during these tragic times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing will ever bring Amanda or Linda back, but we hope that this plea will provide the family with a sense of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mohammed Ibrahim appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday for a plea hearing.
