A police officer discharged a firearm at a Welsh property on Saturday following reports of disorder. The incident took place at Bunkers Hill in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police said the firearm was not directed toward a person.<\/p>\n The police force has now referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. Read the biggest stories in Wales first by signing up to our daily newsletter here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n A police presence remained at the scene on Sunday.<\/p>\n An senior officer has said a “prompt investigation” into the circumstances which led to the firearm being discharged has been initiated.<\/p>\n A police statement on Sunday read: “Dyfed-Powys Police is carrying out inquiries following the discharge of a firearm by a police officer in Milford Haven on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n “The force received a report of disorder at Bunkers Hill at 5.45pm where an individual was said to be in possession of a knife.<\/p>\n “Officers, including a firearms unit, were dispatched to the property.<\/p>\n “While at the scene an officer discharged a single shot from a firearm at 6.32pm.<\/p>\n “The firearm was not directed towards an individual and no injuries were sustained by anyone present.<\/p>\n “The force has voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who will determine if it should be investigated independently or referred back to the force.<\/p>\n “A police presence remains at Bunkers Hill today.”<\/p>\n Deputy chief constable Gary Phillips added: \u201cWe have initiated a prompt investigation into the circumstances that led to the firearms being discharged and have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will work with them as we continue to establish the circumstances leading up to the discharge.\u201d<\/p>\n Get daily breaking news<\/strong> updates on your phone by joining our WhatsApp community here<\/a>.
