Prince William, VA \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Rob Clapper, President &\u00a0CEO\u00a0of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce is traveling to\u00a0Washington\u00a0this week for a White House roundtable on clean energy and regional business competitiveness. Chambers from 14 states will be represented at the roundtable.<\/p>\n\u201cWe\u2019re anticipating a spirited conversation about clean energy opportunities and challenges with federal officials and our chamber colleagues from around the country,\u201d said Clapper.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI look forward to sharing the business case for investing in energy efficiency and renewables that will allow us to grow\u00a0Virginia\u2019s and the nation\u2019s clean energy economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), a 370-member national network that includes local chambers from 48 states, organized the trip.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal chambers understand the strategic role that innovation and clean energy play in local economic development,\u201d said Diane Doucette, CICE Executive Director. \u201cLocal chambers have an unmatched ability to bring together regional business with elected officials and policy makers. We\u2019re delighted to help bring their voices to\u00a0Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Prince William Chamber is focused on efforts to attract more investment and business growth to its region. \u201cWe\u2019ve learned that private-public partnerships can make a huge difference for regional economies,\u201d Clapper said. \u201cWe\u2019re very curious to see what other chambers are doing and how the federal government can support local initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Clapper will be joined at the roundtable by chamber colleagues from\u00a0Ohio,\u00a0North Carolina,\u00a0Illinois,\u00a0Michigan,\u00a0Massachusetts,\u00a0Virginia,\u00a0South Carolina,\u00a0Missouri,\u00a0Utah,Indiana,\u00a0Tennessee,\u00a0California\u00a0and\u00a0Texas.\u00a0\u00a0The meeting will also be attended by corporate representatives from around the country, including Residence Inn by Marriott and Clean Energy Fuels from\u00a0Virginia.<\/p>\n
The White House Office of Public Engagement is organizing the roundtable. Senior officials from the Department of Energy, the Small Business Administration, the Office of Management and Budget, the White House Business Council, the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and the White House Advisor for Energy and Climate Change are expected to participate in the event, which is being held in the Indian Treaty Room at the White House.<\/p>\n
