Emergency services descended on a block of flats after a man was stabbed<\/a>. Merseyside Police<\/a> confirmed officers were called to Beech Rise on Roughwood Drive in Kirkby<\/a> at 12.45pm today (May 8) after reports of an incident in the building.<\/p>\n

Officers arrived to find a man with serious injuries following a stabbing. He was taken to hospital for assessment. A second man, aged 62, was detained at the scene and has been taken to a police station for questioning. The two men are believed to be known to each other, police said.<\/p>\n

When the ECHO <\/a>visited the scene, one man who lives in the block and asked not to be named, explained how he saw “blood everywhere” before he was allowed to leave the building by police. He said: \u201cI live here and there\u2019s blood everywhere.<\/p>\n

“Police came about an hour ago, I heard all the sirens. It happened on the first floor by the sounds of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The front of the block of flats remained cordoned off as police <\/a>were seen in and around the flats. Two scientific support units were seen parked in the car park at the rear of the building.<\/p>\n

Police remain at the scene as they continue to carry out forensic, door-to-door and witness enquiries.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “These are the early stages of our investigation, which we initially believe is between two men known to each other, and which took place inside a premises.<\/p>\n

“There is no wider threat to the public and I would urge anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible, as we seek to establish the circumstances.<\/p>\n

“Officers will be in the area today to provide visibility and gather evidence, so talk to us and we will take action.<\/p>\n
