{"id":861284,"date":"2026-03-30T22:31:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T22:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/861284\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T22:31:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T22:31:19","slug":"thomas-frank-might-be-allowed-back-over-de-zerbi-in-ludicrous-tottenham-curveball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/861284\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Thomas Frank might be allowed back&#8217; over De Zerbi in ludicrous Tottenham curveball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As i\u2019s are reportedly dotted and t\u2019s crossed on Roberto De Zerbi\u2019s contract before he signs on as the new Tottenham boss, a ludicrous curveball has been thrown: \u201cThomas Frank might be allowed back\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/tag\/roberto-de-zerbi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">De Zerbi<\/a><\/strong> initially told Tottenham he wouldn\u2019t consider becoming their new manager in a relegation battle but is now reportedly <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/spurs-four-reasons-de-zerbi-u-turn-revealed-agreement-close-replace-tudor-now\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">close to agreeing terms with the club<\/a> <\/strong>after being offered a lucrative five-year deal including a signing-on fee and survival bonus.<\/p>\n<p>He will have quite the task on his hands not just this season with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/premier-league\/table\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spurs now just one point above the relegation zone<\/a><\/strong>, but in the seasons to come as quite the rebuild is required with what reports suggest will be \u2018major investment to reshape the squad to his vision\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/opinion-de-zerbi-defence-greenwood-tottenham-forever-18-word-smoking-gun\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">De Zerbi defence of Greenwood to stain Tottenham forever after 18-word smoking gun<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Italian would be replacing Igor Tudor, whose interim reign lasted just seven games and 44 days, who was brought in as a firefighter to save Tottenham in a relegation battle they had been plunged into by predecessor Thomas Frank, who was sacked in February after Spurs had won just two of their last 17 league matches under he ex-Brentford boss.<\/p>\n<p>But Martin Keown \u2013 who has proven himself to be little more than a mouthpiece for Tottenham\u2019s bitter rivals Arsenal this season \u2013 claims Frank might be given a second chance at the club because he was slightly less terrible than Tudor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure they enjoyed it when the last manager came in, he was quite scathing of the group,\u201d <strong><a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/football\/4149388\/thomas-frank-tottenham-hotspur-return-martin-keown\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keown told talkSPORT<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe it\u2019s an arm around the shoulder a little bit here? It certainly didn\u2019t work last time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook\u2026 I know people say you should never go back, but Thomas Frank might be allowed back in the building to actually say, \u2018Okay, let\u2019s try and pick up where we left off\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that they lost a few games, but it was certainly a lot better than we saw from recent games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, back on planet earth, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/ferdinand-bad-van-de-ven-our-teammates-de-zerbi-tottenham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rio Ferdinand has warned Roberto De Zerbi against taking the Tottenham job<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always championed De Zerbi, I think he\u2019s a great manager,\u201d Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. \u2018He\u2019s a thinking manager, he\u2019s always looking for new, innovative ways to build his teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis might be the perfect time to get him but are Spurs in the right situation for him?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got to be honest, I wouldn\u2019t go to Spurs right now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just think it is a club that\u2019s in such a bad way and there have been far too many managers that have failed there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not the only thing because we can look at lots of clubs like that.
