Drivers in Glasgow are warned of lengthy delays<\/a> on the M8 with six junctions<\/a> closed.<\/p>\n Eastbound <\/a>junctions 16, Craighall, 18, Charing Cross, and 19, Anderston, are closed due to planned overnight roadworks<\/a> overunning into this morning, Tuesday, March 31.<\/p>\n The closures <\/a>have led to traffic chaos for morning commuters with tailbacks at the Cowcaddens, Kingston Bridge<\/a> and Kinning Park areas of the city.<\/p>\n Amney SW Road Trunks<\/a> confirmed the closures on X and said delays of around 23 minutes expected between junctions 16 and 19.<\/p>\n They also said that junctions 24 – 27 at Hillington<\/a> are restricted in both directions due to the works with 14 minute delays.<\/p>\n Traffic Scotland <\/a>announced the junction closures at 6.35am, saying: “The overnight works on the M8 EB between Jcts 18-15 have overrun, resulting in the road remaining closed.<\/p>\n “Access to the carriageway from: Jct 16 – Craighall jct 18 – Charing X jct 19 – Anderston will remain closed.”<\/p>\n An update<\/a> on X at 7.35am confirmed “lengthy delays are to be expected.”<\/p>\n A number of furious road users hit out at the delays online.<\/p>\n One said: “The full M8 coming off at George\u2019s cross onto St George\u2019s road that\u2019s down to one lane to fit cycle lanes, great planning.”<\/p>\n Another commented: “Would have been nice if the gantries told us this was closed. No warnings till you’re over the Kingston bridge.”<\/p>\n Someone added: “I travel from Johnstone to Stepps every day for work and it\u2019s beyond a joke.
