Two men were taken to hospital after a car smashed into a barrier following a police chase in Oldham.<\/p>\n
Officers first spotted a ‘suspicious vehicle’ on Lees Road just after 7pm on Monday evening (March 30). They tried to pull the car over but the driver failed to stop, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n A ‘short’ pursuit then took place before the driver lost control of the car and hit a safety barrier on Oldham Way<\/a>. Oldham Way was closed off near to the Tesco<\/a> supermarket following the crash.<\/p>\n Videos and pictures posted online and shared with the M.E.N. show multiple cars involved, with debris and car parts strewn over the carriageway. The northbound carriageway was closed for a number of hours late into Monday evening for investigations to take place.<\/p>\n One motorist, who was nearly caught up in the collision, claimed a car had been forced into the central reservation as another high-speed vehicle made its way along the bypass. “It was a chase, my best friend was seconds away from it and it really shook her up,” another posted on social media.<\/p>\n The scene on Oldham Way following the crash(Image: Tyla-Jayne Beswick )<\/p>\n In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7pm on Monday 30 March 2026, police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Lees<\/a> Road, Oldham<\/a>. The car failed to stop and a short pursuit took place, before the driver lost control of the vehicle which collided with a safety barrier on Oldham Way, Oldham.<\/p>\n “Two men were taken to hospital. Injuries are not believed to be serious. No arrests have been made at this time.
