British royalty is coming to the United States. In a historic move, King Charles III<\/a> and Queen Camilla have accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump<\/a> to embark on a state visit.<\/p>\n

This will be Charles\u2019s first official state visit as monarch. While the king<\/a> visited the U.S. over a dozen times as the Prince of Wales\u2014and met with plenty of presidents\u2014he has never undertaken an official state visit to the country before.<\/p>\n

The trip will take place in April, but the itinerary and locations have yet to be disclosed. While abroad, Charles and Camilla will also visit the Caribbean island of Bermuda, Buckingham Palace confirmed today\u2014Charles\u2019s first, as monarch, to a British overseas territory.<\/p>\n

The palace added that the king\u2019s visit hosted by the Trumps will celebrate the \u201chistoric connections and the modern bilateral relationship\u201d between the two countries.<\/p>\n

(Coincidentally\u2014or not\u2014this year marks the U.S.\u2019s 250th anniversary of independence from British reign.)<\/p>\n

Charles\u2019s state visit to the U.S. comes after Donald and Melania Trump flew to London last September for their own state visit. \u201cHis Majesty has known President Trump for many years and looks forward to hosting him and the first lady later this year,\u201d the palace said in a statement at the time, following reports that Charles was hesitant to extend the invitation to Mr. Trump.<\/p>\n

While in the United Kingdom, the president and first lady attended a lavish banquet at Windsor Castle thrown by the royals in their honor. Prince William and Princess Catherine were also present, and Kate looked radiant in a gold dress and diamond Lover\u2019s Knot Tiara<\/a>. (Read more about how Trump greeted Kate here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

That trip marked Trump\u2019s second state visit to the U.K., his first having taken place in 2019, when the sitting British monarch was still Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n
