Lee Dixon has hit out at two England stars after the 1-0 loss to Japan, with Chelsea star Cole Palmer \u201cputting on the brakes\u201d for Kaoru Mitoma\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n
After drawing 1-1 against Uruguay last weekend, England<\/strong> <\/a>suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Japan in a friendly at Wembley on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n Head coach Thomas Tuchel<\/strong> <\/a>experimented with Phil Foden as a false nine without Harry Kane, but this system did not work and England lost 1-0 despite dominating possession.<\/p>\n The Three Lions could not recover after Brighton\u2019s Mitoma scored a breakaway goal to break the deadlock inside the opening 25 minutes, so Tuchel will have plenty to think about ahead of the World Cup.<\/p>\n Former Arsenal star Dixon was on commentary for the match and was not happy with Palmer for his role in Mitoma\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n \u201cCole Palmer is going to lose the ball because he takes chances\u2026 not enough tonight,\u201d Dixon said on ITV.<\/p>\n READ: Cole Palmer out in the cold? England player ratings from a drab 1-0 defeat to Japan<\/a> \u201cBut when he loses it in midfield, he\u2019s got another job and that\u2019s the chase back.<\/p>\n \u201cHe gets level with Mitoma, more or less, and then just puts the brakes on and lets Mitoma run away from him into the space.<\/p>\n \u201cThe pull back is perfect and it\u2019s a really, really good breakaway goal for Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n Dixon also does not think Foden did \u201cenough\u201d against Dixon, but he suspects another Man City star will \u201cbe on the plane\u201d in the summer.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Tuchel likes Nico O\u2019Reilly, he\u2019ll be on the plane,\u201d Dixon added.<\/p>\n
