{"id":865489,"date":"2026-04-01T19:10:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T19:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/865489\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T19:10:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T19:10:15","slug":"west-london-man-charged-after-being-found-with-firearms-at-dover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/865489\/","title":{"rendered":"West London man charged after being found with firearms at Dover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A 24-year-old man from Ealing, west London has been charged with firearms offences following a search at the Port of Dover.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon his arrival at Dover on Thursday 26 March, Khalid Ahmed\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swlondoner.co.uk\/news\/kensington-chelsea\/04032026-albert-bridge-closure-for-vehicles-could-prompt-continual-traffic-disruption\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">vehicle<\/a> was searched under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000, where officers discovered a stash of self-loading pistols.\u00a0He was subsequently arrested.<\/p>\n<p>He was then detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, a warrant of further detention was obtained from Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court, which resulted in him being held in police custody until Wednesday 1 April.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.met.police.uk\/news\/man-charged-after-firearms-seized-at-dover-507864\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ahmed<\/a>, a dual Dutch and Irish national, appeared at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court today, after he was charged with ten counts of possession of a prohibited weapon on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He was also charged with one count of possession of prohibited ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmed is now remanded in custody until his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2026\/apr\/01\/man-charged-firearms-offences-dover-counter-terror-police-arrest\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hearing<\/a> at the Old Bailey on 24 April, after not entering pleas.<\/p>\n<p>Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing London,\u00a0said: \u201cWe appreciate this news may be concerning to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut since this arrest took place, we have been carrying out a number of enquiries and to-date, we have not identified any imminent threats to the public relating to this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the man has been charged, it is important there is no further speculation about the case while criminal proceedings are ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I can reassure the public that our investigation remains ongoing to ensure that the public is kept safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Featured image credit: Helmut Zozmann via Wikipedia Commons<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 24-year-old man from Ealing, west London has been charged with firearms offences following a search at the&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":865490,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[7757],"tags":[47657,748,159825,29264,393,4884,246048,257,16,15,22540,34280],"class_list":["post-865489","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-london","tag-arrest","tag-britain","tag-charged","tag-dover","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-illegal-firearms","tag-london","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-west-london","tag-westminster-magistrates-court"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/116331035271897573","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/865489","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=865489"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/865489\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/865490"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=865489"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=865489"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=865489"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
