The 50-year-old was granted a request on Wednesday by a Florida judge to leave the US to enter a comprehensive inpatient treatment facility as he faces misdemeanor driving under the influence charges.<\/p>\n
The Martin County court judge, Darren Steele, granted the motion to travel submitted by Woods\u2019 attorney, Douglas Duncan, who cited the golf superstar\u2019s need for an \u201cintensive, highly individualized and medically integrated program\u201d away from media and public scrutiny.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased upon the defendant\u2019s treating physician, the out-of-country treatment facility recommendation is based upon the defendant\u2019s complex clinical presentation and the urgent need for a level of care that cannot safely or effectively be done within the United States, as his privacy has been repeatedly compromised,\u201d the motion by Duncan stated.<\/p>\n
