Walker England selection for Youth World Cup in USA

It is the opportunity of a lifetime for Jaxon Walker, 10, to feature in this global event in the week after the FIFA World Cup ends nearby in New Jersey.

Although he moved to Spain three years ago, Warrington is where the journey began for the talented goalkeeper and he has continued to blossom with dedication and hard work.

Jaxon, who lived in Padgate and attended Oakwood Avenue Primary School until he was six years old, started out at Woolston Rovers Football Club.

Private goalkeeper lessons with Chris Kiernan from the age of five held him in good stead.

He received early interest from Manchester City, Wigan Athletic and Liverpool, which did not progress due to his relocation to Spain.

Since then, he has further developed through elite private coaching, academy-level training programmes, and high-standard tournament competition.

His key attributes are considered to be exceptional shot-stopping ability, strong aerial presence, excellent distribution, leadership qualities and composure under pressure.

Jaxon, who now speaks fluent Spanish as well as English, has consistently played above his age group and currently captains ACATEC, one of Spain’s most respected high-performance football academies.

He has competed against top La Liga academies and international opposition, demonstrating composure, leadership, and technical quality.

Clubs he has played for in Spain include CF Atlético Algorfa for three seasons before recently joining CD Benijófar.

The top-level academies and international teams he has played against include Atlético Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, Granada CF, Real Murcia, Cartagena, CD Leganés, Valencia, USA, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Japan and Australia .

Now England have come calling with the chance to represent his country in up to nine matches during the tournament from July 21 to July 26, with teams from around 50 countries participating in the structured seven-a-side competition in which matches will be streamed live on YouTube.

Selectors say his call-up recognises both his ability and potential.

The coming weeks and months will be busy for Jaxon with pre-tournament training camp sessions as well as squad integration and tactical preparation.

And he will get the chance to experience opening and closing ceremonies, as well as talks and other activities around the event.

Jaxon and his family will also need to delve into fund-raising as there is a cost of $1,700 plus flights involved for each player.

It is the opportunity of a lifetime for Jaxon Walker, 10, to feature in this
