The Avon & Somerset Police officer admitted criminal offences\"File<\/p>\n

A Bristol police officer who admitted making and distributing indecent images of children<\/a> faces a misconduct hearing.<\/p>\n

PC Michael Elmer pleaded guilty at Exeter Crown Court in February and is due to be sentenced later this month.<\/p>\n

A separate investigation by Avon & Somerset Police\u2019s<\/a> professional standards department took place while the criminal case was ongoing.<\/p>\n

Now that Elmer has been convicted, there will be a misconduct hearing at force headquarters in Portishead on Tuesday, April 7.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old was a serving officer when he was charged and first appeared before Bristol magistrates in January, but a publicity notice on the police website<\/a> for the misconduct case describes him now as a former PC.<\/p>\n

It said the officer breached the standards of professional behaviour in terms of discreditable conduct.<\/p>\n

The notice said: \u201cThe alleged facts are: On February 27, 2026, at Exeter Crown Court the officer pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children, distributing an indecent image of a child and sharing a photograph of a person in an intimate state.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is contended that (if proven) the allegations amount to gross misconduct.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elmer is due to be sentenced at the court on April 20. He was granted bail.<\/p>\n
