In the current geopolitical context, you\u2019d likely assume that pretty much everyone else has bigger fish to fry.<\/p>\n<p>Not Priti, mind. So enraged by the proposed \u2018Brexit reset\u2019 terms reported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-15703815\/What-Paddington-think-Britains-breakfast-favourite-renamed-citrus-marmalade-Keir-Starmers-Brexit-reset-UK-adopts-new-EU-rules.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail<\/a>, she posted a rant to her X account, accusing the Labour government of \u2018launching an attack on Great British marmalade\u2019. Just let that sit for a moment\u2026 then read the quote in its entirety: <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLabour is now attacking the great British marmalade! No idea Keir is so desperate to fit in with his EU pals and unpick Brexit, he\u2019s now looking to rename British marmalade to align with the EU. When Labour negotiates, Britain loses big time\u2026.\u201d <strong>| Priti Patel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brexit reset proposals trigger right-wing meltdown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seriously. If the Brexit you campaigned for is 10 years down the line, and the biggest victory you can take from it is the right to remove the word \u2018citrus\u2019 from your marmalade products, that suggests that the \u2018sunlit uplands\u2019 we were promised simply never arrived. Who knew?<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, the shadow home secretary has been viciously mocked online \u2013 with her initial tweet during more responses than likes. Labour MPs have been particularly damning in their retorts, with one representative slamming Patel for \u2018shouting incoherently\u2019 about the matter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MPs mock \u2018Lady Marmalade\u2019 Priti Patel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stella Creasy also weighed in, branding the whole affair as \u2018nonsense on stilts\u2019. She also reminded the Tory politician that some marmalade brands in the UK already have a fruit-based prefix on their labels. Luke Charters, the MP for Outer York, also lashed out at the \u2018latest faux culture war\u2019:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo here we have it. The Tory party\u2019s latest faux culture war.
