{"id":871568,"date":"2026-04-04T12:56:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T12:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/871568\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T12:56:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T12:56:48","slug":"trio-facing-arson-charges-over-uk-jewish-ambulance-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/871568\/","title":{"rendered":"Trio facing arson charges over UK Jewish ambulance attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three young men have been charged with arson over<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newarab.com\/news\/3-more-men-arrested-suspected-antisemitic-torching-london\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> the vandalizing of four ambulances run by a Jewish charity in London<\/a>, British police said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>British citizens Hamza Iqbal, 20, and Rehan Khan, 19, will appear on Saturday at Westminster court alongside an unnamed 17-year-old UK-Pakistani dual-national over the March 23 attack.<\/p>\n<p>The three were arrested at separate addresses in east London on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>They were charged with arson, &#8220;being reckless as to whether life would be endangered,&#8221; the capital&#8217;s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Two men in their 40s were released on bail on March 25 over the attack in which the vehicles were set on fire.<\/p>\n<p>The ambulances were parked next to a synagogue in the Golders Green area of northwest London, home to a significant Jewish population.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicles were run by Hatzola, a volunteer organisation which provides free medical transportation and emergency response in north London.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody was physically hurt, but the police said they are treating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime.<\/p>\n<p>While it has not been declared a terror offence, counter-terrorism officers are leading the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>A little-known Islamist group with possible links to Iran has claimed responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newarab.com\/news\/france-suspects-pro-iran-group-was-behind-foiled-attack-bank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI) group<\/a>, meaning the Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand, has also claimed responsibility for similar attacks in Belgium and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>French counter-terror officials have likewise suggested the group may have been involved in a foiled bomb plot targeting a Bank of America branch in Paris on March 28.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Golders Green fire, the police have promised beefed-up security around Jewish community sites across London.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Three young men have been charged with arson over the vandalizing of four ambulances run by a Jewish&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":871569,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[5018,3,4],"tags":[26388,748,393,4884,257,162957,1144,712,16,15,1764],"class_list":["post-871568","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-britain","category-uk","category-united-kingdom","tag-antisemitism","tag-britain","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-london","tag-london-attack","tag-northern-ireland","tag-scotland","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-wales"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/116346551540164744","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/871568","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=871568"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/871568\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/871569"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=871568"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=871568"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=871568"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
