{"id":872408,"date":"2026-04-04T22:01:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T22:01:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/872408\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T22:01:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T22:01:15","slug":"snl-u-k-cold-open-sees-daddy-keir-starmer-invite-britains-big-three-peppa-pig-harry-kane-and-olivia-colman-to-cheer-up-u-k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/872408\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018SNL U.K.\u2019 Cold Open Sees \u2018Daddy Keir\u2019 Starmer Invite \u2018Britain\u2019s Big Three\u2019 Peppa Pig, Harry Kane and Olivia Colman To Cheer Up U.K."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u2018Saturday Night Live U.K.\u2019 opened with another Keir Starmer sketch for its third episode, with the British Prime Minister calling upon the services of the country\u2019s biggest celebrities \u2013 soccer star Harry Kane, actor Olivia Colman and cartoon character Peppa Pig \u2013 to cheer up the nation amid fears of war and a cost of living crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cLook, I know I\u2019m not inspiring,\u201d said Starmer, played by \u2018SNL U.K.\u2019 castmember George Fouracres. \u201cWhen I applied to join the Samaritans, I brought the vibe down so much that the interviewer called the Samaritans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In an effort to lighten the mood, Starmer invites England soccer player Harry Kane (played by Al Nash) to the podium, asking if he can give the country one of his \u201crousing team talks.\u201d Kane is followed by \u201cPaddington\u201d star Colman (Emma Sidi), clutching an Oscar, who is introduced as \u201ca Briton with a smile that could light up a room, which could be useful when the power runs out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cHello, gosh, this is a bit sexy, isn\u2019t it, flirting with Iran and playing with oil?\u201d says Sidi as Colman. \u201cNext thing you know, then there\u2019s an energy shortage, the power is off and we\u2019re snogging in the dark.
