Manchester City\u2019s owners have injected \u00a370million in the form of a new share issue, sources have told Football Insider<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

A Companies House submission on Wednesday (9 April) confirmed City Football Group (CFG) \u2013 Man City\u2019s parent company \u2013 has issued more than 7.9 million A Preference Shares. <\/p>\n

Each share was purchased at \u00a38.83, taking the total investment to \u00a370million. <\/p>\n

It comes after Man City\u2019s majority owner Sheikh Mansour injected \u00a3420million<\/a> into CFG between June and November last year. <\/p>\n

That ensured the vice president of the UAE\u2019s stake in CFG increased to over 80 per cent, while minority investor Silver Lake\u2019s shareholding fell to around 17 per cent. <\/p>\n

It is so far unclear which party is behind the latest investment, with Mansour and Silver Lake both holding A Preference Shares.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

CFG has needed cash in recent years after adding several new teams to its multi-club portfolio. <\/p>\n

Alongside\u00a0Man City<\/a>, the group now holds stakes in 13 clubs, including five in Europe, four in the Americas, three in Asia and one in Oceania.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CFG\u2019s accounts for 2023-24 revealed its losses reached \u00a3122.2million, taking its cumulative losses to almost \u00a31billion since it was founded in 2013.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The group recorded a revenue of \u00a3933.1million last season as its empire continues to grow. <\/p>\n

However,\u00a0Man City posted a record-breaking revenue of \u00a3715million<\/a>\u00a0and a pre-tax profit of \u00a374million in 2023-24 as they accounted for the majority of CFG\u2019s turnover.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Finance expert Stefan Borson told\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>\u00a0Man City\u2019s owners have \u201chuge\u201d development plans<\/a>, which is why their losses remain so high.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Man City have spent more than \u00a32billion on new signings since Mansour completed his takeover in 2008, helping them claim 24 trophies during that time. <\/p>\n

However,\u00a0Pep Guardiola<\/a>\u2019s side have endured a challenging season as they currently sit sixth in the\u00a0Premier League<\/a> table, with the FA Cup their only remaining hope of claiming silverware.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Football Insider<\/strong> revealed on 28 February\u00a0Man City are prioritising signing a right-back and midfielder<\/a>\u00a0this summer as they look to strengthen their squad.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Premier League champions spent \u00a3180million on Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush<\/a>, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez in the January transfer window, but their on-field results have so far failed to improve. <\/p>\n
