Three new railway stations in Birmingham have been given the seal of approval by regulators ahead of their long-awaited opening.<\/p>\n

Passengers services will call in at Moseley<\/a>, Kings Heath<\/a> and Pineapple Road stations, on the Camp Hill line, for the first time on Tuesday, April 7.<\/p>\n

And rail regulator The Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the rail regulator, authorised the three new facilities clearing the way for passenger services to return to the line for the first time in more than 80 years.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Railway services are due to run twice an hour between Birmingham<\/a> New Street and Kings Norton via the three new stations, giving journey times to the city centre of around 12 minutes from Moseley Village, 15 minutes from Kings Heath and 17 minutes from Pineapple Road.<\/p>\n

The first train from Birmingham New Street going to Kings Norton will leave at 6.27am Monday to Friday, 6.28am on Saturdays and 9.27am on Sundays.<\/p>\n

The last train is 10.57pm Mondays to Fridays, 11pm on Saturdays and 10.27pm on Sundays.<\/p>\n

The first train from Kings Norton towards Birmingham New Street is 6.30am Mondays to Fridays, 6.50am on Saturdays and 9.50am on Sundays.<\/p>\n

The last train is 11.20pm Mondays to Saturdays and 10.50pm on Sundays.<\/p>\n

ORR’s authorisation covers the stations’ new features, including step-free access via new lifts, providing accessible connections between platforms. Car and cycle parking will also be available.<\/p>\n

The regulator’s authorisation is a key milestone in getting new, upgraded, or renewed infrastructure ready to open.<\/p>\n

It also confirms that standards on areas like health and safety, accessibility, environmental protection, reliability and availability have been met.<\/p>\n

ORR has worked closely with the West Midlands Combined Authority, Network Rail, West Midlands Rail Executive, and the wider project team through the authorisation process, ensuring that important checks and surveys were carried out.<\/p>\n

Steve Fletcher, Deputy Director, Engineering and Asset Management at ORR, said: “This is an important step in bringing passenger rail back to the Camp Hill Line and improving connectivity for communities in south Birmingham.<\/p>\n

“We’re pleased to have played our part in getting Moseley Village, Kings Heath and Pineapple Road ready to open.<\/p>\n
