Heavy snow has fallen in Glasgow on Easter Sunday just hours after weather warnings were lifted by the Met Office.<\/p>\n
Extreme weather<\/a> brought by Storm Dave sparked road closures and train disruptions early this morning before amber wind warning<\/a> covering southern Scotland was lifted at 3am.<\/p>\n Yellow warnings for wind across the rest of the country were lifted later in the morning – but the storm has brought wintery conditions that weren’t forecast in the central belt.<\/p>\n Footage taken by the Record has shown blizzards in Glasgow in unusual scenes this late in the year.<\/p>\n Locals have been captured trudging through snow on Royston Road in the city as residents woke to see their streets blanketed in snow. A snow plough was pictured on the A9 as the blizzards sparked travel disruption.<\/p>\n Earlier this morning the Met Office\u2019s forecast for Easter Sunday said: \u201cStorm Dave will clear northeast on Sunday morning, leaving sunshine and widespread showers across the UK.<\/p>\n \u201cNorthern areas will see the heaviest, blustery showers and feel cold, while temperatures elsewhere stay closer to average for early April.\u201d<\/p>\n A snow plough on the A9 a few miles south of Inverness on Saturday(Image: Peter Jolly)<\/p>\n The heavy snow was not forecast in Glasgow(Image: Daily Record)<\/p>\n Before the severe amber weather<\/a> warning was lifted, the Met Office had forecast \u201csevere gales\u201d across central and northern areas of the country overnight into Sunday.<\/p>\n In the early hours of Sunday, Traffic Scotland warned that several major bridges had restrictions in place due to strong winds, including the Queensferry Crossing on the M90, which connects Edinburgh with Fife and the nearby Forth Road Bridge on the A9000.<\/p>\n The A87 near Sconser on the Isle of Skye was also reopened after 3am, having previously been restricted in both directions due to the hazardous conditions.<\/p>\n Strong winds were then reported in Aberdeenshire, with a tree seen downed between Cumminestown and Turriff.<\/p>\n ScotRail<\/a> confirmed emergency speed restrictions would be implemented across parts of its network, resulting in longer travel times.<\/p>\n The heavy snowfall has sparked travel disruption (Image: Daily Record)<\/p>\n A tree was downed by high winds between Cumminestown and Turriff in Aberdeenshire(Image: Fubar News)<\/p>\n As of 7am on Sunday, 12 flood warnings and eight flood alerts did, however, remain in place.<\/p>\n The Energy Networks Association (ENA) \u2013 which represents electricity network operators \u2013 warned of potential power cuts<\/a> and issued safety advice following the weather warnings.<\/p>\n It said in a statement on Saturday: \u201cThe storm has the potential to affect local power infrastructure, increasing the risk of a power cut and fallen power lines.<\/p>\n \u201cNetwork operators are increasing staffing for operational teams, and moving spare equipment to where the weather is expected to be most disruptive, so it\u2019s ready to use if needed.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Snow](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/0_Image_20260405_105033_656jpeg.jpg\")
